Ponoka County - Important Safety Notice

Due to safety concerns, and in accordance with the Highways Development & Protection Act and the Traffic Safety Act, Ponoka County no longer allows the erection of metal posts in its ditches. If you require temporary signage at or near your work site, please use wooden posts or a tri-pod stand, and ensure their removal upon completion of the project.



Yellowhead County - 48 hrs Notice Required

Total Fire Ban in the County of Paintearth

Effective 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011 a TOTAL FIRE BAN in the County of Paintearth

Effective 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011 a TOTAL FIRE BAN in the County of Paintearth. A Total Fire Ban means that there are to be no fires what so ever and smoking is limited to shacks, doghouses etc. and vehicles.

For Drilling sites and especially pipeliners there must be fire fighting equipment on site such as full water trucks with spraying eqipment; fire extinguishers by thenselves are not sufficient.

At 12:01 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, Spring Thaw Period / Period 1 weights will come into effect on roads south of and including Township 27. The Winter Allowance will also be cancelled Province Wide at that time.

Weight Period Changes

At 12:01 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011, Winter Weights for Overloads will come into effect on roads north of and including Township 16 from the BC/AB border east to and including Range 18 west of the 4th Meridian and then north of and including Township 11 to AB/SK border.

At 12:01 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011, Fall Period Weights for Overloads will come into effect on roads south of but nor including Township 16 from the BC/AB border east to but not including Range 18 west of the 4th Meridian and then south of but not including Township 11 to AB/SK border.

At 12:01 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011, Period 4 for Service Rigs will come into effect Province Wide.

A return to the previous Winter Periods is anticipated later next week with colder conditions.
