MB Over Dimensional Loads



When a load exceeds legal dimensions a permit is required. In addition to obtaining a permit when exceeding legal dimensions, there are general conditions and restrictions that must be followed depending on the size of your load. Legal Dimensions in Manitoba are:


Width
  • 2.6M (8’6”)

Height
  • 4.15M (13’6”)

Length
  • Single Vehicle, 12.5M (41’)
  • Truck Tractor, semi-trailer(s) combination 23M (75’5”)

Annual dimension Permits are available for some commodities. They are issued per plate and do not cover the whole fleet.

CONDITIONS FOR MOVEMENT

Specific conditions must be met based on certain dimensions. All conditions up to the dimension of the specific load must be met.

Night All Amber and red lights are required.

3.05 Always All "D" or "WIDE LOAD" sign is required.

Always All Amber beacon on cab of towing vehicle is required.
Day Provincial Undivided Front pilot vehicle is required, if load overhangs centre line.
Night Provincial Undivided Front and rear pilot vehicles required.
Night Provincial Undivided Rear pilot vehicle is required.
Summer Holiday Season Provincial Holiday Restricted Routes Holiday travel restrictions apply.
Public Holidays Provincial Holiday Restricted Routes Holiday travel restrictions apply.
4.60 Day Provincial Undivided Front and rear pilot vehicles are required.
Day Provincial Divided Rear pilot vehicle is required.
Commuter Hours Commuter Routes No travel allowed.
Night All No travel allowed.
Always Winnipeg Police escort may be required.
6.10 Day Provincial Front and rear pilot vehicles are required.
Always All Permit must be carried in the vehicle.
